Black Walnut Café to Open First North Texas Location in Flower Mound

Houston-based upscale restaurant Black Walnut Café recently chose Flower Mound as its first North Texas location and plans to open an approximate 6,000-square foot eatery just north of the FM 2499 and Firewheel Drive intersection. Known for choosing upscale communities, Black Walnut Café will serve an array of contemporary American, fast casual cuisine throughout the day, including selections for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Black Walnut Cafe

“As a thriving restaurant chain, Black Walnut Café had several choices when it came to expanding into North Texas and we are honored they chose Flower Mound,” said Town Council Member Jean Levenick. “I have no doubt residents and visitors alike will enjoy dining at Black Walnut Café and I look forward to welcoming them into our community.”

NCTC Opening

I am very excited Black Walnut chose Weaver Commercial Real Estate, Ltd. to work with to purchase their land. The pad site they chose in Firewheel Village for their restaurant is in the center of Town and the extensive trail system connects it to houses close by for foot traffic. Another plus is they are buying the pad site behind their restaurant pad site for a regional office to manage all the future Black Walnut Café locations here in the DFW area. Black Walnut Café consistently donates time & money to local charities in the Houston area which makes them a great neighbor and we are lucky to have them!

An official opening date has not been determined for the Flower Mound location. The restaurant will be constructed with high-end finishes and will include a catering menu and a full bar, complete with happy hour specials.

NCTC

Weaver Commercial and the Town of Flower Mound
welcome North Central Texas College

NCTC opening- Todd Weaver of Weaver Commercial Real Estate, Ltd., is pleased to announce that North Central Texas College (“NCTC”) has executed a lease with Eagle Parker Square, LLC (“Eagle”) of Dallas.

Alex Payne of Axis Realty Group has been working with the College for the last year on plans for expanding in Denton County. NCTC’s campus in Corinth has been in operation since 2000, and is operating at capacity with over 7,000 students. When the college mentioned Flower Mound as a major priority, one of the first calls Payne made was to Todd Weaver of Weaver Commercial Real Estate.

“I already had a positive professional relationship with Todd Weaver and he has the reputation as the ‘go to guy’ in the Flower Mound/Lewisville market, so I knew if there were opportunities for them, he would know about them” said Payne. “Everyone involved with NCTC agreed that the building with its easy access and good visibility from Main Street as well as the classic architecture of the Parker Square development represents the high profile image NCTC is looking for.

NCTC Opening

”They were able to identify a vacant building at Parker Square in Flower Mound, 1200 Parker Square, as an excellent fit for NCTC. “We kept coming back to that building as a favorite option because of the proximity to the three local Lewisville ISD high schools where students could conveniently access classes while in high school or after graduation and the partnership between the graduating students from NCTC with the new hospital due to the Nursing and EMT programs NCTC offers,” said Weaver.

Weaver, spoke with a long time associate who was a developer and was familiar with the inner workings of the Town and was able to direct him to a financial partner who could execute the transaction within NCTC’s time frame to be open for the Spring semester. That group turned out to be Eagle Equity of Dallas. Weaver and David Wideman of Daveco Development brokered the sale of the building at 1200 Parker Square. Weaver and Eagle Equity represented the landlord, Eagle Parker Square, LLC and Alex Payne handled negotiations for NCTC on the lease.

NCTCNCTC will occupy the entire 32,000 sq. ft. building located at 1200 Parker Square. NCTC’s newest campus is scheduled to open for the Spring Semester with an estimated 1,000 students in January 2011. Lee Ann Nutt Vice President of NCTC said once the campus receives its accreditation, NCTC plans to offer a full range of courses including associate’s degrees in arts and science.

The Flower Mound campus, once finished out, will include 10 classrooms, two computer labs, a lecture hall, and a library. Registration for spring classes at Parker Square will begin in November. NCTC officials are planning to offer 118 sections of courses and will likely hire about 40 adjunct staff members to support the campus.

NCTC“We are very excited that NCTC has chosen the Town of Flower Mound as home for its new campus,” said Al Filidoro, Flower Mound Mayor Pro Tem. “The addition of a college to serve the residents of our community, and the surrounding area, is tangible proof that Flower Mound continues to be a great place to live, work, and play. Parker Square, NCTC, and the Town of Flower Mound will all share in the benefits of students attending classes at our very own community college location.”
